Just for fun and to try out another expression I threw together a quick Prison Mike. These faces have been helping me spot some discrepancies with my model and areas to fix up a bit. Also there is a surprising amount of info about Prison Mike, I googled “Prison Mike Bandana Pattern” and not only did I get a flat high-res pattern, but I also got tutorials on how to tie a bandana like Prison Mike along with a lot of merch with his face on it!
Teeth!
Decided to make a set of teeth that I can use in future projects, found a pdf textbook for dentists that helped out with tooth placement and getting the arcs of the mouth correct.
Some more hair work
Working with Hair Tool in Blender has been great so far, easy to add, remove or edit the hair cards and I think my favorite feature is being able to draw my curves right on the head mesh. This makes for quick iterations and adjustments which I send over to Marmoset to view in realtime. I’ve also played around a little bit with expressions, seeing Steve Carell so straight-faced is out of character and for me makes it a bit harder to see if I am hitting the features right.
Steve Carell Realtime Character W.I.P.
Recently I got a major itch to try my hand at sculpting a likeness. I wanted to pick a someone that I could easily find a lot of images of from a lot of different angles, so I decided on Steve Carell who has 7 seasons worth of footage along with his many movies and photo shoots. I think the added benefit of being very familiar with his face after rewatching The Office so many times would help too.
My plans are to have a game ready character/bust to render with Marmoset Toolbag. Here is a review of the progress I have made so far, many many iterations have been done to the low-poly to capture all of the broad, defining, features of Steve’s face.
Below is a gallery of progress:
Currently working on some hair using Hair Tool for Blender, which is a pretty useful addon so far. The hair alpha I am using was baked from a Blender Hair in Marmoset and the albedo was made using the passes in Affinity Photo, but I may need to make some changes to it still:
