This project was inspired by my love of organ music and Gothic architecture. The environment is built to run in realtime using Unreal Engine 4 with RTX. All models were made in Blender, some had additional detail sculpted in ZBrush and baked down. Substance source came in handy for a lot of material bases and allowed for a lot of flexibility to get the look I envisioned.
Modularity was a big part of the project for me, I wanted to created themes and pieces that could be used throughout the project, for instance the shape of the columns can be seen in the windows, railing, the golden decoration on the organ pipes and even the Organ Stops. Utilizing blueprints and instancing allows this scene to run at a solid framerate for my 2060 using RTX, and even better using Unreal’s traditional reflection model.
The music in the video is Bach’s Fantasia and Fugue in G Minor BWV 542 performed by Leo van Doeselaar, checkout the original video here:

A fun experiment I hope to try in the future is to rig the Organ Manuals(Keys) to animate based on a Midi file, I think it can be done and it would be a really cool effect to see the keys move by themselves to the music.
